Need help on hair straightening for guy with scene/emo hair?

I currently got my haircut and it isn't too short I would say about a few inches. Well I asked my stylist to cut my hair to match the "scene" or "emo" style of hair. It is a cool and stylish thing to have hair come off to the side like that. The right side of my bangs are growing more than my left simply because I had my bangs cut but kept the right side of hair. I was wondering if I could use a hair straightener to flaten it out even more. It is not falling in place so well because my hair has its own way of settling down. I used Moose but it still wont stick. Any ideas with the straightener or some type of hair product that will hold without shine or glossyness?

Hiya.

Yes what the other are saying is great. Always blow dry it has maximum effect for this type of style on your hair. And yes its totally cool to have that style, i love it!!

I know exactly what your saying. After washing (smapoo and condition) blow dry about 50% dry. Then us your straightener. I know what your chattin about because im going for that kinda style and yes my hair does the same, i try styling it so much but it just bounces back to its normal position no matter how much product i use. I would highly reccomend you use a hair straitener, it will hold it in the disired direction and flatten it out to the position that you want it, not the position that it want to be in. Once nearly dry apply any type of gel/wax/clay/pomade to your hair. Style. Then blow dry the styling product into your hair, this melts the product into your hair, not leaving it ontop giving you a greasy look. Use a hot blow dryer for this.

*Finish with a freezign spray

Good Luck :D

Try hair jell ... put some in ur palm of your hand and rub it around then take ur hand and run ur fingers through your hair and use it to stile it the way you want.

Try any brand of hair glue which will hold till the apocalypse if you use it right. If you blow dry your hair, try using your brush to pull your hair in the direction you want while holding it close to your head and it should help it to straighten as well as go whichever direction you'd like. You have to train your hair since it isn't used to lying this current way you want. Also, if you want your hair to lie close to your head with minimum volume, don't use mousse and do not blow dry your hair in an up direction (bending over, pulling hair straight up, etc) because this will give it lift.

Emo hair isn't really about the cut of the hair, it's about the way it's styled and coloured.

Emo hair originates from Manga styles (japanese cartoons) and usually still attributes as a long sweeping side fringe (though not always required.)

Emo hair can be about being yourselves, the aim is to just do what you think looks good on you!

I found a website for you full of examples:

When it comes to dye, just think about the colours that suit you best and that you wouldn't mind having in your hair, pink, red, black and blonde streaks and the most popular colours.

Style:

1. Wash and condition

2. towel dry

3. Use styling mouse or gel to brush backwards

4. Style around your face, have spiky bits at the back if you want.

Finish off with a cute DIY accessory, bow or necklace, such as something from LoveBites and Bruises: http://www.lovebitesandbruises.com

This will show a flair of originality that scenesters try to go for to make them stand out and be original.

Best of luck with it! :)
